Divided: A Cautionary Tale - Position, Posture, and Polarization

Corinne Gunter's message focuses on the importance of choosing posture over position in an increasingly polarized world. She challenges her listeners to prioritize relationship over being right, noting that while we may hold different opinions on complex social and political issues, our natural tendency to distance ourselves from those who disagree can fuel dangerous division and dehumanization.

Using the Rwanda genocide as a cautionary tale, Gunter illustrates the devastating consequences of dehumanizing "the other." She encourages the congregation to break this cycle by actively listening with curiosity, suspending judgment, and remaining committed to the primary command of Jesus: to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves. Ultimately, she calls for a community that models unity and grace, reflecting the love of Jesus to a watching world.
